The Hope for Africa Children’s Choir of the East African Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church recently toured the DMI Studios and favored us with a wonderful song and dance from their concert program. DMI Director Tricia Walker has been selected as a video showcase artist for the 2009 Performing Arts Exchange in Norfolk, VA. Tricia’s five-minute video showcasing her “Heart of Dixie” show was selected by a jury of the Southern Arts Federation, and will be featured throughout the hotel during the PAE conference in September. Congrats, Tricia!

Chicha Libre is a Brooklyn-based group who have resurrected a 1970s style of Peruvian dance music called chicha. They recently gave a performance in Studio A at the Delta Music Institute at Delta State University. The 2009 DMI Summer Camp took a tour of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center thi afternoon in Indianola, Mississippi. Campers and staff enjoyed the interactive features and high-definition presentations at the museum.

Here are some wonderful alumni members of the Delta State class of 1958 at last year’s Homecoming celebration. They joined together in Ol’ Whitfield, now DMI Studio A, to sing and record the DSU alma mater. They did a great job, don’t you think?
